The free tier includes three beginner-friendly steels, fully usable: 1084, 80CrV2, and 15N20. The one-time Full Library unlock adds the rest of the library (roughly fifteen to twenty common bladesmithing steels), along with PDF export and saved cards.
Hamon tells you plainly when your equipment can't reach what your steel needs. A forge and a magnet are fine for simple carbon steels like 1084 or 80CrV2. Alloy and stainless steels need a controlled kiln to hold a precise soak temperature, and often a cryo step, which a forge cannot do reliably. If you pick a steel your gear can't handle, Hamon says so rather than giving you a schedule that would ruin the blade.
Every value in a schedule is a table lookup cited to a named authority, shown next to the value in the app. Sources are public heat-treat references (Knife Steel Nerds and published mill datasheets). No number is generated by a model. Always verify against your own steel supplier's datasheet before you heat any metal, since alloys vary between mills and heats.
If you've unlocked the Full Library and don't see it (for example on a new device), open Settings inside Hamon and tap Restore Purchase.
