Sampler
Pick a photo of a pet, a house or a portrait. Sampler matches every colour to a real stranded-cotton floss, reduces the picture to the number of threads you choose, and draws a counted cross-stitch chart with a symbol for every thread.
Choose your fabric count and Sampler shows the finished size, the piece of fabric to cut, and how many skeins each shade needs. The floss list shares as plain text, ready for the shop.
The photo is charted on your iPhone or iPad. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account. Charting needs no connection.
How many thread colours does a pattern use? You choose, from 10 to 60 threads. Sampler then shows how many threads the chart uses, the share of stray single stitches and how many are left.
Which fabric counts does it work out? 11, 14, 16, 18 and 22 count aida. For each one Sampler gives the finished size in centimetres and inches, the piece of fabric to cut, and the skeins each shade needs.
Can I get the pattern as a PDF? Yes, with Sampler Plus: a multi-page PDF with a page map, the chart pages, the legend and a floss list to tick off. Without Plus the full chart, the legend, the fabric math and the floss list are all on screen, with a faint preview mark over the chart's symbols.
Can I send the floss list to someone? Yes. It shares as plain text, so a friend or the shop can read it without the app.
Is my photo uploaded? No. Sampler charts it on your iPhone or iPad. There is no account and no server.
Which devices does it run on? iPhone and iPad with iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 or later. Sampler Plus works on both.
