Mortise. Last updated 2026.
Mortise is built so that there is nothing to collect. This policy describes that plainly.
Nothing. Mortise has no server, no account, and no analytics. Your answers, your profiles, and your reports are stored only on your iPhone. The App Privacy label for Mortise is Data Not Collected, and the app makes no network calls of any kind.
When two people complete a check, their answers cross directly between the two phones — end-to-end encrypted so that only the intended iPhone can read them (QR pairing plus an encrypted file, or nearby transfer). No copy passes through any Mortise server, because none exists.
Because your data lives only on your phone: there is no cloud backup and no cloud recovery. If you lose or reset your phone, that data is gone. Deleting a pair removes its answers, report, and keys from your device. A report you have already sent to the other phone cannot be recalled.
Mortise asks for the camera only to scan a partner's pairing code, and for notifications only if you opt into a single reminder to finish a questionnaire. Nothing is photographed or stored; no location, contacts, or photo-library access is requested.
