Common questions
- How does Foray work?
- Tap "Start a round" and Foray composes a handful of small, abstract quests — like "a door older than you." You go find them in your own surroundings and keep a photo of each. There is no map and no destination; Foray gives you a way of looking at where you already are.
- Why does Foray ask for my location?
- Only to confirm you actually went outside (that you moved from where you started), computed on your device. Foray never gives you a place to go and never shows a coordinate. If you decline, you can still play — photos just won't be outside-confirmed.
- The quest library vs. Apple Intelligence — what's the difference?
- On devices with Apple Intelligence enabled, Foray uses the on-device FoundationModels framework to vary quests further. On every other device, Foray uses its built-in quest library, which is the full experience. Either way, composition is 100% on your iPhone — nothing is sent to a cloud.
- I couldn't reach a quest. Did I fail?
- No. Tap "couldn't reach it" — there is no penalty and no streak to break. The round completes on what you did find.
- How do I restore my purchase?
- Open Settings inside Foray and tap "Restore Purchases." Because there is no account, restore is handled entirely by Apple via your Apple ID.
- How do I cancel my subscription?
- Go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Foray → Cancel on your iPhone. Cancellation is handled by Apple; Foray never asks you to cancel and respects it immediately.
- Is my data private?
- Yes. There is no account, no server, and no analytics. Your rounds, your location reads, and your photos stay on your iPhone. See the Privacy Policy.
- A safety note
- Foray is a game. Always mind your surroundings, respect private property, and don't enter unsafe areas. Skip any quest you can't safely reach.
