Firmament is built so there is nothing to collect. We do not collect any data. There is no account, no analytics, and no third-party SDKs.
Every plate — the sun, moon, twilight, and star positions for the place and date you choose — is computed entirely on your iPhone using standard astronomical math. The app makes no network connections except to Apple's App Store for the optional one-time purchase.
Location is optional. The app works fully by searching for a place by name. If you choose "use my location," it is used once, on-device, only to fill in the current place — it is never stored and never leaves your phone.
When you search for a place by name, the query is sent to Apple's Maps service to return matching places, under Apple's privacy policy. Firmament does not log or retain your searches.
Plates you save stay on your device. We never receive, store, or have access to them.
