You log your shelf — the skincare products you own and use — in a simple AM/PM routine. Once a day, a 20-second note captures how your skin reacted: clear, a little reactive, or a breakout, with an optional area and an optional photo. Culprit stays quiet for about a week while it gathers signal, then names the product to suspect from your own data. There are no streaks, no badges, and no before/after pressure — anywhere.
A rule-based engine on your iPhone compares the products you logged against the days your skin reacted. When one product appears clearly more often on your reactive days, Culprit surfaces it as the product to suspect — for example, "Niacinamide serum was logged on 4 of your 5 most reactive days," with a STRONG / MODERATE / WEAK SIGNAL strength marker. It is an observation about your own logs, never a verdict and never medical advice.
Usually about one to two weeks. Culprit needs roughly seven days of reactions, with enough reactive days and enough calm days, before a read is trustworthy. Until then a calm "Day N of learning" screen counts you up toward your first read. If the data clears the bar sooner, the read appears sooner.
No. Culprit is a cosmetic product-reaction tracker that notices patterns in your own logs. It names a product to suspect, never a skin condition, and it is not a medical device. If you are worried about your skin, please talk to a dermatologist.
No. Culprit is manual-entry-first: you add products and log reactions by tapping. There is no face-scan and no required camera step. A reaction photo is optional — a memory aid stored only on your iPhone — and you can log everything without ever taking one.
No. There is no account and no server. Everything — your shelf, your daily reactions, and the optional photo — lives only on your iPhone. The only network traffic is Apple's App Store for the subscription. You can verify this with any network proxy.
Open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and select Culprit. You can also restore a previous purchase from Culprit's own Settings screen.
In Culprit's Settings you can export all of your data as a file at any time, and "Delete all my data" wipes every product, reaction, and photo from your device in two confirmed taps. Because everything lives only on your iPhone, deleting it removes it everywhere.
Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and select the Culprit purchase.
